If you want a big chest then you have to bench press.

No if’s, no but’s, no excuses - and no sissy machines or cables either.

To get a big chest you have to do THE strength building exercise for your pecs and you are going to have to vary it.

Barbell Bench press will build overall strength, not only in your pecs but in all the small stabilising muscles, your shoulders and your triceps too.

Heavy weight training, like heavy bench also causes your body to react and adapt by releasing additional hormones - particularly testosterone and growth hormone. This will boost your overall body muscle growth.

Crossovers, flyes, machine exercises just are not the same. Everyone I know with a big chest does bench as their main exercise, you see this a few too many times and you start to get the idea.  Doing cables or flyes first (unless for injury or pre-exhaustion reasons) is just being lazy. It is the same as entering a marathon and just walking - you might eventually get there but it’ll take a heck of a lot longer and you’ll probably give up before you make it.
