Lower Chest Exercises

How do you grow your lower chest?
I have been asked that question a few times now. My first thought is what is the pre-occupation with growing your lower chest?
I mean personally I think decline presses are a waste of space in the gym and should be thrown out to make room for more useful equipment.
Maybe some people do have deficient lower chests, but I have never seen it, either way here is the best lower chest exercises you can do…

Correct Benchpress Technique

Time and time again I see people and even ‘qualified’ personal trainers doing Benchpress wrong. They all cheat to use more weight, it is a disgrace to the professionals getting paid to teach their clients to cheat.
Often they do 1/2 reps, some even claim it is the best way to get big, and it is a valid training method. Just not the way they do it.
Luckily when I started training 20 years ago all the big guys around had powerlifting backgrounds so we were taught to Bench properly from the start.

Cable Crossovers

Cable Crossovers would have to be the most favoured chest muscle building exercise I have ever seen. Hundreds of trainers I have watched go to the Cable Crossover as their main, and sometimes only, chest exercise.
Cable Crossovers are a simple, easy to set up and easy to do exercise that takes little time to pump out three sets and no preparation time besides moving the pins to the weight required.
Yet I recommend that you do not do them, why?

Bench Press for Big Chest

If you want a big chest then you have to bench press.
No if’s, no but’s, no excuses - and no sissy machines or cables either.
To get a big chest you have to do THE strength building exercise for your pecs and you are going to have to vary it.
Barbell Bench press will build overall strength, not only in your pecs but in all the small stabilising muscles, your shoulders and your triceps too.
Heavy weight training, like heavy bench also causes your body to react and adapt by releasing additional hormones - particularly testosterone and growth hormone. This will boost your overall body muscle growth.
